What a difference a day makes!

May 19, 2009

It has been a while since I have written. Lots of drama going on in and around our home. Mostly trying to adjust to this new age of my life. 55!!! I am thinking about writing a book entitled, "The Details They Don't Tell You About Growing Older" or "Oh Boy, Check the 50 and Older Box! Like when you hit 50 you have to start scheduling colonscopies. Now that will give you something to look forward to! And how about menopause! Now that has been a well kept secret! Especially the part about not sleeping and feeling like your worth is measured in teaspoons rather than cupfuls! Now we could park there for a week. And oh, let's don't forget the increases in every disease known to man since you are "50 and older". Well, it happens to the best of us and what a difference a day makes!

Aren't you glad that through all of our aging process the Lord doesn't say "you are not worth much since you are older" or "sorry can't use you now, should have made the most of it while you were still young". Oh no, there is still much for us to give and learn. Still someone waiting to hear the wisdom we have or the humor we bring to life. Still a job to do or a work to be completed. Still a place we haven't traveled to or a word we haven't heard before. Still a memory yet to be made or a good thing to happen. A challenge to be meant or a fear to be conquered. Yes, there are many things yet to do for this ol' girl! 55 just a number! State of mind now that is another story to be written at another time. So for all of you who check the box "50 and older" GOOD FOR YOU! And to my grandsons who asked me recently did they have dinosaurs when I was a little girl, well, you are forgiven because you are so darn cute!!! I didn't see them, little darlins', but I have learned so much about them from you! Keep teaching this Nana and I promise I will keep learning!

Lord, teach me until you take me to be with you and keep using me until I hear the shout!
Philippians 1:6 "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
